Happy Spring everyone! We hope you are all doing well and getting ready for some great spring/Summer shows. I am in the works right now with our good friend "Fletch" and some bands getting ideas together for this years' Fletch-Fest! We are going to do a few things a bit different this year and one of 'em is... This event will be TICKET-ONLY and we are only selling 250 of them. We want to keep it small and fun for everyone AND we don't want any trouble with the cops like we almost had last year. If there's only 250 of us, it's a win-win situation. I will keep you all posted on this blog and on our Myspace page, which by the way will soon have tunes available for you to buy. I am also going to have a new Beechwood podcast available soon at iTunes... again, I will keep y'all posted on that stuff.
I just want to give a shout-out to our Great friends Mini Jacket, who in the past couple of months have given us some really fun shows! I hope you all will take the time to go check them out sometime. They are such a great band and i think you'll all like them a lot!
Anyhoo... I will be back in touch soon. Think Sunshine!

Sorry it's been so long since i wrote to y'all... I've just been working on my own page and not really working hard for the band lately, but we need some shows so i'm here... back to work! We started off 2007 at the Horse Hair on New Years Eve doing some acoustic stuff. It was Jerry, Karl S. and Myself... (DGF) on guitars playing for some friends. The second show of the year came a week later for a nice crowd up Pat's Peak's 'Sled Pub'. It's a really fun place to play after "Romper Room" is over... I've never seen so many little kids in a bar before!
We are going into rehearsal-mode again and we have some new stuff in the works, so be sure to come out and check it out. I'll write back soon and let y'all know.

Playing with Ron Noyes Band and Grayson Capps and the Stump knockers in Manchester last month. I am sorry i have not said Thank You to all of you who came out for that show... and all the shows that weekend. I saw so many old friends! I hope some of you will be out in Henniker tomorrow night at Pat's Peak. Shhh... don't say anything to 'you know who' (if your coming, you know) It will be a very fun night in one of my all-time favorite places to play. It's such a great sounding room and a very "Henniker" atmosphere. There is honestly not another place like it! So, grab your drinkin'-shoes, and a driver and get yourselves out the door for a real good time! We can't wait to see ya'!

Tonight in Manchester w/ Grayson Capps

We are psyched to be playing tonight with Grayson Capps and the Stumpknockers in Manchester, NH at Milly's Tavern. The show starts at 8pm and i'm pretty sure that The Ron Noyes Band is playing too. We hope to see some of you there.
Tomorrow night Grayson and the boys will be at Penuche's Ale House in Concord, which promises to be another rowdy show because that's Sponge's ol' stompin grounds. So grab a Designated Driver and some friends and come see these guys. They are great musicians and even better people!

"Tooky" Legion this weekend

First of all we want to thank Kevin and Amanda for the great party saturday night. We played a few songs with Kevin and as always, he was on Fire! The guy really knows how to add some spice to a song. It was a blast!
We'll be playing Saturday the 14th at The Contoocook Legion on Bound Tree Road. This show is a benefit for The 521 Club (http://www.521club.org/). The 521 club was founded in 2004 after the tragic death of our dear friend Josh Russell. The club raises money with it's annual fishing derby and various other events including this one. The money is donated to the Josh Russell Ski Racing Scholarship Fund (http://www.jrskiracing.org/) We all know that Josh would be really proud of these events and we hope that you will all come out and join us for a great night of music and laughs. My brother Dave Foster (Mini Jacket) will be sitting in on drums and hopefully there will be a couple other guest musicians. The cost is $10 per person and the musiic starts at 8pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the shows saturday. We had a blast playing with Dan Blakeslee and Mini Jacket in Concord. They sounded so good! It was a great event and a really nice place to play, and I hope we can do it again sometime soon. The acoustics in Eagle Square are amazing and i think the city should start making it a weekly thing.
NEC was fun too! I was surprised to see a bunch of people from the Eagle Square show there. I'm sorry if i didn't perform well, but right in the middle of the second set i lost my voice and came down with a bad case of the flu that is still kickin' my butt. I did have fun though and it was really nice to play in our hometown again. Thanks to Ben Smith for setting that one up for us. That's two for you this year buddy! Here are a few pics that my brother Dave took at NEC. Sorry i chose blurry ones wif, but i like Michie's devil eyes in the top one and my pigeon-toed stance and the fact that Jerry's about to laugh at one of my F***-ups. As you all may know, David F. is an amazing photographer and rarely takes a blurry shot, but i think he may have gotten into the tequilla with Michelle and Ben that evening over at Davey Mac's pre-party.

Fletch-Fest 2006 was a success and i have some people that need to be known and thanked, because without their help and hard work, there is no way it would have been as successful as it was... Bob and Hal Fletcher, Matt and Andrew Hoekstra, Jim Whelan, Bruce Platts, Mike Griggs, David Foster, Teddy, Matt Stanley, Shane, Owen, Dan, Paul and Judy Vallari, Sue Sawyer, Jan Palm, Karl Serzans, Tabitha (and all the other fine folks that helped at the front gate), Lance, The Warner Police dept. and all the performers... Mini Jacket, Tyler road, Lamont Smooth, The Mystery Button, Turtlebone, Michael Crane, The Vipers, Dan Blakeslee, Sean Parcels, Derek Astles and John Holden and of course my band-mates Beechwood.
Thank You all so much for working so hard and making this event a weekend to remember! Like my brother said on his blog... "Every single smiling face was a direct result of your hard-work." It is so true!
I also want to thank the 200+ people who shared the field and the weekend with us... I met so many cool people! Thanks!
We are already discussing what is going to improve next year, so i hope y'all will put us on your calender for the weekend before Labor Day!

We have been having so much fun working on the field and surroundings to get them ready for a great weekend of camping and music for all of you. Some of the boys got up early last saturday morning and built a really cool bridge, connecting The "day-parking" field to the "camping/concert" field. They even built an arbor out of sapplings. And we have spent the past two night mowing the lower field with a fine-mower and getting it cleaned-up. If you get there early enough on Friday or Saturday I will even mow your campsite. The place is coming along very nicely and we look forward to seeing you all there Saturday morning. Here's a couple more randon pics of Hal, Matt, Ted, Dan, Andy, and the dogs... New Moon Music Fest

Things are coming along well up at "Fletch's". The list of musicians and bands keeps on growing and it looks like it's going to be a great mix of tunes! Unfortunately my brother Dave broke his arm last night moving some equipment. Hopefully he will be able to play bass in time for the show. I'm sure he will... he's very determined! This whole event was his idea, so make sure to wish him well and thank him when you see him.
The dates for the show have been altered slightly, but i don't think it will mess anyone up. Saturday night (Aug.26th,2006)is the main night of Music and the first musicians will be hitting the stage at 2pm, so make sure and get there early and claim your camping spot!
My good friends Matt and Andy Hoekstra have been helping Bob and i all week with various projects and i gotta' give 'em props! They are great workers and a lot of fun to hang out with. Make sure to thank them for all of their hard work!

Jon Fishman!!!

As i stood in line to pay for my diesel tonight in Bow, NH i turned around to see who had just walked up behind me and to my amazement one of my biggest heros in the world is standing there smiling with his slurpie and chips... Jon Fishman was so kind and gracios to me, telling me stories outside of how he had just bought the ol' JEMP truck from the band for $5,000! He was on his way to his new farm in Maine. The truck that used to haul Phish's equipment around the country was now going to haul hay and manure around the farm. He also told me how he is building an old school ice box for a refrigerator in his new home. We talked about the new tour coming up with his friend "Willis" and he was surprisingly interested in what i did. He asked what i play and how long have i played...etc. I regrettably didn't think to offer my services if he ever needed someone! I was just in awe to be standing there talking with my favorite drummer! I will never forget it!

Our good friends Bob Fletcher, and Dave Foster got talking the other day and in the process organized a two-day music fest in Warner on Bob's land! I have not received a ton of info, but i know Mini Jacket (Formerly The Band June) and Beechwood have both confirmed and there are several other bands in the process of confirming as i write this. There will be plenty of parking and camping spots, so bring you gear! Knowing Bob, there will be a pig roast and prolly some fireworks too! This is the kind of thing where it just won't be the same without you, so please spread the word to a couple nice people you may know and come enjoy some great music in the hills of Warner, NH! The dates are Friday August 25th and Saturday the 26th! I will post directions when i get more info. We look forward to seeing y'all in August!

Beechwood & The NH Maple Producers

We have been asked to play some tunes this weekend for the NH Maple Producer's "Maple weekend" which should be a lot of fun for everyone. The event is being held state-wide Sat. 3/25 at more than 50 sugarhouses. We will be at Ross View Farm on District 5 road in Concord, NH. The event starts at 9am with pancake breakfast, free samples, Hay-rides, tours of the farm and sugarhouse and much more. This is a great event for kids of all ages and we look forward to seeing some of you there.

I haven't posted here in a while so, here's a little photo I shot of the boys in 2002 @ the American Legion Hall, Post # 81, in Contoocook, New Hampshire. That floor saw some beer that night!!! Just look at how crooked 'Long-finger's' hat is....

Anyway: as you can tell by the photo, Ron Noyes was playing in the band at that time, (Cheers Ron! Congrats to you and Holly!!!!), but also, BRUCE WILLIS made a brief appearance to rock-out a quick version of the
'Moonlighters' theme-song. Props to Bruce!!! (it's really Jerry, but the resemblance in uncanny, wouldn't ya' say?)

We played a party for our good friend Casey the other night up at the Farm, and as usual it all started out in "T.H.H."(sorry, i,ve been told i can't say the name...WTF?) We played three rockin' sets too with a first-ever "Cold Shot" and reggae-ended "Caravan" along with another reggae-classic "Lively Up Yourself" We all had a great time and to those of you that came...thanks...

Random equipment shot...What can I say...I like my Gear!
This is now my "practice" set-up...It's a Hartke 4.5XL on top and a Hartke 115XL on the bottom with the 3000 Head. I played this system with Beechwood for about three years before it just lost it's integrity at the high volumes we play at, hence the reason it now sits in my living room. It's the best practice amp i've ever had. It does come out to small venues every once in a while...

A real nice picture, once again by David Foster, of our good friend Kevin Lebreque a.k.a. "Dr. Loose." Kevin spent many years in the Beechwood line-up and is still a regular at shows. There is no mistaking his sound...The room comes to life with his Searing guitar licks and warm chord-voicings. We definately owe "Dr. Loose" a big Thank You for all the great times and Killer Jams...whether in the kitchen at "The Farm" or onstage somewhere, he brings out the best in us! Kevin is currently playing for www.mrnicksbluesmafia.com make sure and check them out...They are one of the premier blues bands in the country and a blast to see live! Beechwood would like to thank A Great musician, Friend, Photographer, Artist...etc... my Brother David Foster. He has done more work for, not only Beechwood, but The Brothelcreepers, Freeks, The Ron Noyes Band, The Band June, Overbilt, Puckerbrush, Honeyworks, King Karp and the bottom-feeders..., than any of us combined. He always has a Great poster for every gig (even when he's not playing the gig) He has written or co-wrote so much of the original music put out by some of these bands. He helped produce albums for Freeks and Brothelcreepers. He did all of the artwork for the Ron Noyes band's CD "Something Else"...and more times than not...He didn't get paid for his work...He is so important to Beechwood and all the musicians who know him. Thank You Wifta' for all that you do!!!David is currently playing Bass for http://www.thebandjune.com/ stop in and check out their site. They are a great band, and good friends of Beechwood!
